Privacy Policy for FretBored

This Privacy Policy describes how FretBored (“the App”) handles information when you use it. FretBored is developed and published by Art of Guitar, a UK sole trader (“we,” “us,” or “our”).

Summary

FretBored does not collect, store, or share any personal information. The App does not require an account, does not access your microphone, and does not use advertising services. There is nothing for us to know about you as an individual user.  In the future we may add features which do collect personal information or advertise but not at the current time.

Information We Collect

We do not collect any personal information. Specifically:

  • No accounts. FretBored does not require you to register, sign in, or provide any personal details such as your name or email address.
  • No microphone or camera access. The App plays audio to you (for ear training exercises) but does not listen to or record you, your guitar, or your surroundings.
  • No location data. FretBored does not access or collect your device’s location.
  • No user-generated content is transmitted. Any progress, settings, or scores are stored locally on your device and are not sent to us or any third party.

Analytics

FretBored does not currently use any analytics or crash-reporting services. If we introduce anonymized analytics or crash reporting in a future version (for example, to understand which features are used or to diagnose bugs), we will update this Privacy Policy beforehand to describe what is collected and, where applicable, provide any choices required by law. Any such service would only ever provide us with aggregated or anonymized technical information — never data that identifies you personally.

Advertising

FretBored does not display advertisements and does not use any third-party advertising or ad-tracking services.

Purchases

FretBored is a paid app, purchased once through the Apple App Store or Google Play. That purchase transaction is handled entirely by Apple or Google under their own privacy policies and terms — we do not receive or store your payment details. At this time, the App does not offer any in-app purchases or subscriptions.

Data Sharing

Because we do not collect personal information, we have no personal information to share, sell, or disclose to third parties.

Data Storage and Security

Any data associated with your use of FretBored (such as saved settings, progress, or preferences) is stored locally on your own device using standard device storage. This data is not transmitted to us and is removed if you delete the App.

Children’s Privacy

FretBored does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children. Since no personal information is collected at all, the App is safe for use by learners of any age in that respect. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us using the details below and we will address it.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time, for example if we add features such as analytics. Any changes will be reflected on this page with an updated “Last updated” date, and material changes (such as adding data collection) will be described clearly.
